About Me:Tell us a little about yourself
Pam is the creative force behind Pass It On Plates, in idea that started in early 2003 and grew into a business.

Blessed (and sometimes cursed) with a restlessly creative mind, she has created many ongoing projects to keep her busy. Besides Pass It On Plates, she takes on side projects that either satisfy her desire to be creative or fill a need for functional art around the home. She has a unique view of the world and a warped sense of humor that is apparent in everything she does.

Future plans, along with growing her Pass It On Plates business, include quitting her day job at an insurance company and attending college to complete her degree in Business: Marketing/Advertising.

I may be clever, but I'm lazy

Just a week ago I decided to switch gears on my regular PIOP blog (yes, PIOP is lazy typing for Pass It On Plates) and focus on marketing. Since more than 50% of my blog readers are also in the crafts business or active bloggers, It only makes sense for my blog posts to appeal to them and focus on their needs as crafters/bloggers. Enter the small business marketing seminar. I have started writing blog posts explaining the process we have gone though at PIOP to get started as a serious business,… Continue

Our first craft fair with Pass It On Plates

Here's our booth:

We used USPS Priority mail boxes under bright colored fabric to elevate items in back. The boxes will be used later to ship orders. Several plates had cookies on them so visitors could see them "in action."

We borrowed a few plates from friends who have been… Continue

Finding Niche Social Networks

This weekend's art show in Lincoln City, Oregon was a great opportunity for me to test out a lot of different things as I performed a constant 8 hour stream of Pass It On Plates "show and tell." One valuable thing I learned was from a real estate broker, who bought three plates; two to use as gifts for clients who would soon be closing on their new homes. This is one of the uses I had been expecting to encourage, and it was exciting to have her confirm it. She loved the concept of my PIOP (Pass… Continue

Walking advertisement

I keep a list of things I need with me whenever I leave the house or studio. One thing on my list was some sort of shopping bag for the upcoming art show in Lincoln City, Oregon. Wanting to avoid plastic bags, my wish list had a star drawn by "re-useable shopping bags." My plates are… Continue

I finaly went to pikes place market about 2 weeks ago. I was checking out the vendors. It took me about an hour or so to walk around it. There is a fantasitic oriental man doing silver work. He is using wax gun methods. Neat work.

Yes Michael Hedges is dead. Found dead near a car accident a few years back now. Thats how they phrase it in the press releases. Strange if you ask me. To bad, I will miss his new works.

I noticed you added music. I probably should turn on the music player on this site. hmm.

Have fun tomorrow, lots of neat shops to explore.

I started doing the Port Orchard, Saturday Farmers Market. It worked out really good for me on my first ever time this last weekend. I will have to blog about it.

Lauri Anderson is one of my most favorite musicians to listen to. I found her years and years ago. Another long term, not well known favorite is Michale Hedges. Both are an acquired taste.
Joining the Zune community has been incredible for me. I pay $16.00 a month to have unlimited access. I have been able to explore tons and tons of artists now. It is really something. I find that i really have been enjoying ancient roman music of late lol. Simple, easy to listen to while in the shop.

If you have access to the Zune site friend me over there. :)

Cool pam on how you found us. I learned marketing from hands on and years of thinking about it and studying it in the real world. I also was predisposed in that direction given my family background and my advanced degree in science was in a transferable skill set.

You having an ongoing venture and getting a degree at the same time will be a huge boon to you. Good luck with it :)
