I finally got to play with some of the Trautman glass!

Things are winding down at the high school Media Center where I work and we got the seniors checked out today, the rest of the students will be checked out next week....then only a few more school days and I will have more time to create!!!!!! YaHoooo. It is always hectic around this time of the school year, my least favorite time, anticipating some time off to do what I really love doing.

I did get a few hours to experiment with the new glass I got at the ORBS meeting. I concentrated on just one glass called Taxco and it's beautiful turquoise blue that seems to have an oil on water effect when used with ivory. I love the organic shapes and the contrast of the ivory (which turned to a caramel color and showed some webbing) and the oil slick blue which is naturally outlined in a darker shade of blue. Now I just have to come up with a name for these beads and post them on Etsy. Any ideas?

I love Nouveau Lily! That's great because they do have that art nouveau look. Thanks so much.

There is a really reasonable setup torch that has a small tank of mapp gas attached that I started with. It doesn't take that much to get started and see if you like it. It just hooks to a table. I will look for info on them for you when I get a chance. It's a great way to get started.

Off to work...5 more days, but who's counting!

Char, how beautiful they are! The dark blue edges just happen naturally? It must be neat to see the little surprises as you go along. I just have to somehow get working with glass; it's something that I've always wanted to do, and have all kinds of ideas for. I have to get out of this tiny apartment first, and get somewhere to work.bah.

How does "Nouveau Lily" sound? That was the first impression I got. Beautiful color combinations :-) Or maybe something flame or feather-inspired? The blue shapes remind me of an old glassware pattern with the 'feather' in it--I think it was called "Princess Feather".
