Considerations - The Art in Marketing

From The Start - Follow our Journeys

Good Morning, Folks-

I just heard back from Etsy Admin, and we are now a registered Etsy Street Team :-)
Here's our profile page (I've got to get a banner up there and tweak it a bit still, but this is us):
http://team.etsy.com/viewteam.php?id=302

If anyone else with a shop on Etsy would like to join, just post your Etsy username as a reply to the post at the following link and I'll get your name into them. I'll send names in groups of 2 or 3 at a time:
http://considerations.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=2027880%3ATopic%...

I've been checking out things like SNS threads (Saturday Night Special) and thinking we might do our own version. It brings attention to us as individuals and as a group, and will generate sales. I'll get back very soon with more details and see what you all think.

Have a great day!

we probably should start a discussion on just this subject. Tag names are totally voluntary I am sure, but they will help folks find our team products if you use them and cross market, and promote our tag.

The tag Id for our group is COM so either TEAMCOM or COMTEAM probably should work just fine for a product tag I would think. It is not case sensative either. so TeamCom would work just fine.

I do think we want to avoid a space in out tag. spaces can mess up searches.

Hi folks-

I still have to get a banner on the profile page, so it would be good if the logo & banner tie in visually. That's my project for the day, and we'll toss ideas around; I'll see what I can come up with from here. It should reflect all media, I think, because we're a varied group and will most likely show more variety once more people join.

Also, about the team tag, it is a very useful thing and we should defintely start using it right away, so that once we start promoting (soon :->), we'll have it in place already. Plus, if we have a lot of items in our shops, it's easier to get it done now instead of rushing at the last minute :-)

Etsy has been kind of waffling on the tag subject. They've gone from two words to one, and back again. I'm trying to figure out what the deal is there. I have some questions for Sara (team coordinator) and am going to write her about them, and try to get a final answer on the tag subject.

They want all teams to use the same format because using the word 'team' will make it easier to identify items that are mistagged (accidentally or otherwise), and also, some people are using team tags when they're not members (sneaks LOL). The only issue is whether it's a separate word or not. It seems no one there really knows how the new search setup really works or whether it will pick up t-e-a-m as a word, or as 4 separate letters within a longer word. Ugh.

**We really should use tags in all our listings. It's not required but what they said is that while they're not making it mandatory, they'll not do any Etsy-generated team promotion unless everyone is identified with tags. So in essence, yes, it's a rule, just not a written one :-)

So are we going with 'com'? Funny, I was playing around with this the other night and abbreviating 'considerations' comes out to 'con' which would make us the 'con team'--No no-bad! :-)

Initials are weird: "ctaom", so I used"CAM" (omitting the 'the' and 'of') on the profile page temporarily. I wanted to run this all past you guys first so that when I write Sara about the final details, it can be done all at once.

Scott, is there some way to make a poll or get one on here? This would make things much easier if I could set up polls for each detail and have eveyone vote on them.

I forgot to mention I'm attending a tagging workshop for vintage sellers tonight at 5:30 EST, in the "shop setup" room of the Virtual Lab. Anyone can attend, and I think it's worth a trip for everyone because there will be a lot of discussion on tagging in general, and the importance of doing it correctly since the category fix and search changes have gone into effect. You can find the lab in the "Community" section on Etsy.

I think we can just decide what to call it and put it out there for a little while. I do not think anyone will object to just about anything we come up with.

we do want to be Etsy specific to their needs,.

OK, I went through the old meeting notes about tagging and Sara (Admin) said that "it will be more beneficial for search" to separate the word "team" in the team tags because it will be picked up either way by typing in the first main letters, so we're set.

Now, will it be "Com team" or "team com"? :-)

for no reason that I can think of, I like Team Com the best.
Another newly formed team I'm a member of has been instructed to have a space between the name of the team and the word "team".

On our Etsy team page, it says "Name: Considerations (CAM)"

team CAM

considerations team (this is possibly the most logical, and has some very nice connotations too)

AIM team, but this reminds me of aohell (!)...so maybe TAIM team...

Just a few thoughts...

Ok here is the deal on team name, we are going to be branding considerations the whole name. If that is the case then the easiest way for folks to find us is if we use that full name in our tages.

So, I am proposing "Team Considerations" That will make a fine Etsy tag, and be informative to folks just browsing even. Lots of the tags I see are so cryptic, they are loosing an opportunity to brand even further. So yep it does take a bit longer to type in, but well worth it.

I will repost this in the group area. referr comments to this off thread conversation over there please.
