Thanks, It's a little different from most of my other work. I was just playing.
I'm putting it up for Farmer's Market this weekend. Spring is finally here now !

It is different in materials and shape, but what's neat is that it's still identifiable as "Kim" -beige/brown with blue/grey, with iridescence--even the image background shows it; a really nice pallete and look :-).

Thanks for noticing the "kimness" that's neat to hear!

These are the pins I had made up by etsy's buttonarcade that are close ups of my beads.
My website is printed in teeny tiny letters on the edge of each one.
I have already recouped my investment by selling 100 to a gift shop.

I've missed you guys. Has everyone been as busy as me?

I noticed even on the Deviant art site that i monitor that everyone is like exploding in creativity of late. I used to get like 30 new works a day and of late have been getting 200+ new works to look at. Yeah busy very! :)

Howdy Kim-
Unfortunately, I've no been as busy as I'd like to be (at least not in the way I should be) but am trying to fix that :-)

Read around the site here and check out what's coming up; there are a few things in the works that are going to be group projects, and are pretty neat.

One thing is the formation of an Etsy Street Team. We've got several people on board and I need to send a letter out to Admin. to let them know the details and then wait for them to get back to me with approval.

They need an estimate on how many members there'll be and the usernames so I'm adding a post in the forum so whoever else wants in can sign up, so add yourself if you'd like to. At the end of the day today, I'll collect the names and send them in with the letter.

It will take several days to hear from them, and I'll get back to everyone with the details and our next move with this. While waiting for their response, I'm taking a brief, much-needed hiatus and then we'll get moving on this .

Glad you're back and that all went well :-)
-Ida.

Here is my latest and greatest. I am also uploading other images of it.

This one is called Seductress. It is finished dark tribal, sterling silver, hand formed ear wires by me, faceted "Prongs". The entry tips of the wires have been rounded. These are absolutly amazing in low light conditions. Amazing.

These were designed to go nicely with three pearl in a pod, or the other soon to be released pearl ring(s) i have worked up.

Oh and I am cheating, here is next weeks latest and geatest. ROFL

Oh cool! Do you make a mold for that then? Are you using the lost wax method?

I took a year of bronze casting. I soooo loved it. Wish I could cast again, but I'll just have to settle for pewter. We got the supplies to start, now we just need to get doing it!

I can't wait to see the finished product of these!

yes i have a full casting studio. I truly love casting. It is really something. It is akin to that moment in the dark room when you are watching the image show up in the developer, if you have ever done that, but a longer cycle and much more intense.

These are all from molds i just made. So I am several steps along the process of being able to create copies. In fact These are the first set of copies. These represent future ring , earrings, ear studs, pendants, charms, mini silver bells, mix and match combinations. Who knows :) They are like half painted canvasas that I get to complete any way I want. Potential in wax. They get cast this morning, in fact i have to go out in the shop and see where they are in the burn out cycle.

I think I will do a posting on lost wax casting. The casing cycle is incredibly time consuming.

The wax you see up front and center are what I am calling my moon flowers, Part of a series that I am calling Tea Cup Flowers. Many are designed seen in wax here can take on pearls or other gems. There are 5 different wax copies here from what I can see in the photo.

Ya, I love casting, too. I don't know if I have my picture up here, or if it's in another one, of the angel on the sword. That's a 3 piece sculpture I did. I added stained glass to it.

What do you use for the mold, then? Are you using a sand investment?

I'm just starting out with pewter casting. You'd think it would be simple after doing bronze pours, lol! I'm trying to figure out the best thing to make molds with. Of course, I research it to death beforehand, when I should just go downstairs and get my hands dirty. I think a silicone RTV is what I'm going to go with. I might just try a plaster mold first though, as I have that on hand.

You should do a blog on it! It would be great. I'm going to be doing one on glass etching. I have all the pics now, just need to get the blog up. I'm thinking that for one, people are interested in the process of the things we make, and two, maybe they would have a greater appreciation after having seen what goes into the piece they are thinking of purchasing!

Gawd, I would love to set up for bronze casting!
