My main blog is called Sweet Repeats (((( www.sweetrepeats.blogspot.com )))) . On it, I share my WIP's of my mixed media creations, some thrift shop finds, and travels in and around North Carolina.
It's fairly new, but I'll be rambling on about all sorts of things on there, like gemstones, crystals, jewellery, art, ghosts...dogs...and maybe I'll write something about my journey with Crystal Skulls too.
I guess that if you want to find out more about the crazy person behind Earth Deva, you'll have to go read it... !
I just found out a handy way to make regular blog posts on blogspot. If you sign into their "Blogger in draft" you can pre-date your blog posts and they'll publish themselves at the time you scheduled. That way you can make up a handful of blog posts all at once and they'll publish once a week or whenever you tell them to.
I do this with my recipe of the week on my plate diary blog. I do a month or two at a time and each recipe publishes right on schedule for that week and I don't have to think about it.
My blog is A Muted Palette. I'll spell out the link for you, in case you want to make a note of it. ;) http://amutedpalette.blogspot.com
I'm using my blog as an extension of my brand. On the surface, I discuss art, inspiration, balance, and mix in some anecdotes from home. But I try to keep a consistent "voice," subject matter and tone that matches my artistic style. It's easy for me, because it's all true. If that makes any sense.
If you peruse my blog, you'll notice one point where I veered off course. I won't point it out, to make it more interactive. If you ask nicely, though, I'll fill you in.
I'm going to start a new thread, in a day or so, regarding how to get the heck out of the seventh ring of blog purgatory. You know, breaking out of the restricted Etsy world and landing in deeper oceans. From where sales might originate. Too tired right now though.
Blogging came to me by accident. I discovered blogging while searching for some kind of guest book app I could use for my plate diaries and it turns out that for now, using a blog just for these diaries functions the way I want and is in my biz start-up price range. This blog is not really a blog at all, and until recently had been getting very little traffic: http://passitonplates.blogspot.com/
(BTW, I discovered that blogspot's max number of posts per day is 50. Go over 50 and you need to type in the garbled text code with each new post.)
That was kind of fun, so I went on to start a few more non-business blogs. (One is only used for fiddling around with HTML and learning new things without damaging my existing blogs.) In dinking around with them, I learned so much useful stuff about generating traffic, blog networking sites, and what kinds of posts (subject matter) attract the most hits. (Scott is right. Get your blogs on Technorati. BlogCatalog is also good.) I also advertise my plates in the sidebar of all my blogs.
At the same time, I started a private blog just for my mom and me to save links, and collaborate as we develop Pass It On Plates. I'm in Oregon and she's in Wisconsin, so this was the best way for us to log convos, share pictures of ongoing work, post tutorials, and bookmark links that we both need such as online suppliers.
I didn't start a blog for my business until later when I had a "smack to the head" moment and realized I was missing out. I use this blog, my seventh one,http://passitonplatesblog.blogspot.com/, for my business, and like A Muted Palette, it is an extension of my brand. It also draws traffic to my website and to my etsy (my only online shopping cart). Being able to generate traffic from fresh news, pictures, etc has made a huge difference in traffic to my regular web site. I'm still learning what kinds of subject matter draw the most traffic and I have to admit I'm jealous of those blogs who have 6-20 comments on every blog post. While I'm in the business of selling my plates, I think time spent driving traffic to this blog is important. Without it few people would see my plates.
Back to driving more traffic to my plate diary blog; the one with numbers for post names... On my family blog, I learned that recipes generate more traffic than almost anything else I've posted. (Ok, recipes and sick little games involving penguins.) My plates have nothing to do with penguins, and everything to do with food, so last week I've started experimenting with recipe of the week. Doing nothing else, and with only one recipe, there is a trickle of traffic coming over to check it out. I think of this particular blog as secondary, (because it's not really a blog) so I'm still experimenting to see what generates traffic and what doesn't.
I credit my blogs for the majority of traffic to my site and nurturing them, especially my Pass It On Plates blog, has become an important regular activity on my calendar.
The place where I have my primary blog is blogspot. I got a slow start, but things are getting better. I also have one here, Etsy's Dark Side (Ning), a Pagan business blog, and Indiepublic. I find I'm not spending as much time on Indiepublic as I do the others.
Recently, I posted for amusement, and I put a few of my items on it, so I imagine the blog will be very eclectic.
I'm working on some glass etching, so my bf is taking pictures as I go through the process. In the end, I'm hoping to do somewhat of a tutorial for people who are interested in learning the process.
My blog is called PR Ninja for the time being. The title comes from how one of my friends uses the word "ninja" interchangeably with "master". My topics are arts management, internationalism, marketing communications and student leadership; that sounds broad but people seem to like it. URL is http://bebeth.wordpress.com.
